Via Central Administration, I am not able to change the Preferred Search Center Url. Usually, you go to the User Profile Service Application Management site and click “Setup My Sites”, change the URL and hit OK. But if you have a look into the setting again afterwards, the value is still the same as before.
Googling Binging around this seems to be a bug in SP2013.
A workaround is to set this via PowerShell:
$ssa = Get-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication $ssa.SearchCenterUrl = "https://mysearchcenter.contoso.net/Seiten/" $ssa.Update()
You can prove the setting via the following PowerShell Command:
$ssa = Get-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication $ssa.SearchCenterUrl
Be aware, that the setting in the User Profile Service Application will still be the old one! Hopefully this gets fixed with the next CUs.
